Mt. Kenya Guest House is located at the base of Mt Kenya, 170 km north of Nairobi on the Eastern slopes of Mt Kenya and only 6 km from Mt Kenya National park main entrance gate, a world heritage site. Mt. Kenya guest house is refurbished old English house built early 1900’s. It was occupied by an aristocratic British couple who had fled UK in order to escape the overcrowding, high tax levels, and a Tupperware-domed climate of their native land. It was later occupied by Prettejohn’s family who had moved to Kenya in the 1900’s and were pioneering cattle ranching in Naro Moru.
Mt. Kenya guest house offers excellent opportunity for planning hikes up Mt. Kenya and the surrounding areas. It is also a prime place for getting the latest travel information, as there are always people who have either come down the mountain or are just about to go up. It is a very friendly place; its clean, has beautiful grounds, and is ideal for budget travelers.
